You can generate BDC and update data from Excel VBA by SAP RFC Call transaction. For simple mass operation, you don't necessarily develop one time program just for it.

You can download or upload Idoc data by this Excel VBA macro. After downloading Idoc from SAP, you can change values or add segments just like you do in WE19. This uses EDI* SAP RFC function modules.
